Woodstock Mayapple Writers’ Retreat 2019 – Schedule of Readings Announced

The Woodstock Mayapple Writers’ Retreat is an annual retreat for “mid-career” poets and writers. It was founded in Saginaw, Michigan as “Rustbelt Roethke” in 2003. Poet and publisher Judith Kerman, the founder of the retreat, moved to Woodstock, NY, bringing the Retreat with her under a new name in 2012.

Public poetry and fiction readings are scheduled as part of the week-long writers’ retreat. All readers are retreat participants; we will have the opportunity to hear work “hot off the printer.” Readings will contain a wide variety of poetry and prose. The public is welcome at all readings. There is no admission charge.

Schedule of readings:

Wednesday July 24th, 7pm at Alebrijes Restaurant 237 Forest Hill Dr, Kingston, NY 12401 (Map)
Readers: Bob McDonough, Susan April, Mark Fitzgerald

Thursday July 25th, 7pm at the Villetta Inn, 3 Upper Byrdcliffe Way (next to the Byrdcliffe Theatre), Woodstock, NY 12498 (Map)
Readers: Leslie Gerber, Shannon Frystack, Helen Ruggieri

Saturday July 27th, 7pm at The Villetta Inn, 3 Upper Byrdcliffe Way, Woodstock, NY 12498 (Map)
Readers: Joyce Kessel, Steve Lewandowski, Judith Kerman

Public readings are an integral part of the Retreat process. They allow writers and audiences, both, to hear the ways in which words and ideas move when spoken aloud and heard in community. It is a fascinating mechanism, to be savored and shared.
